Life Happens and Marketing Plan Series to Start

It’s been more than a month since my last post, when I announced my marketing plan series to help business owners in their 2010 planning. Well, life happened.

I won’t go into the details, but let’s just say that life has been a downright rollercoaster. Just keeping mentally upright can be the win for the day. Remembering that life can be short, and that it’s important to drink deeply from the cup of life every day, and you are never alone — these have been strong lessons over this period.

I do apologize for not doing what I promised for my readers, and I’m finally coming around.

The marketing series will start next week.

Please leave a comment about what you’d like to learn and accomplish through the series. And get ready to thrive!

Business Marketing Plan for Success – Series Signup

Successful business marketing is the key ingredient to your business’ prosperity. (I am updating this post to reset the clock for January 22nd.)

Whether you are a solopreneur, entrepreneur, or a big business, whether your business is art, music, literature, performance, auto repair, coaching, software, clothing, real estate, printing, financial advice –whatever your service or product, the last few years have been brutal on business. We’ve seen the agony of failing businesses, consolidation and buyouts, and the survival of a stalwart few.

The business that regularly reviews its marketing effectiveness has a better chance of surviving the ups and downs of business and economic cycles, and the frequent fickleness of customers. You’ve heard this and read it from many sources. Maybe you’ve tried it, maybe you haven’t had the time. Marketing review includes the entire marketing cycle from soup to nuts.

Planning for the next year includes more than creating an overall business plan. Without a strong marketing strategy, all the best plans for sales and production fall flat.

My gift to you is simple. In this free series we will  work together so you can thrive by sharing what I know, as if we were sitting in the room together looking at your business. Let me help you stimulate and direct your creative mind so your business is marketed in ways that truly reflect how you do business. You will go through the steps to get clear on your business, get clear on your message, get clear on how to get your piece of the marketplace.

Over the next several weeks I will walk you through the basics for marketing your business. Posts will be short, two or so each week, and you will have homework to do. Doing the Homework is only required if you want your business to thrive. It’s up to you.

Posts will be presented to Series subscribers first.  To subscribe, send an email to me at WLAGlobal@gmail.com, with “Thrive through Marketing” in the subject line. I’ve decided to do this initial series in a very low tech way so I can be more hands-on.  Check your email for the first post within a week, and feel free to post comments.

Let’s follow the example of the great Vince Lombardi.  Let’s start with the Basics.

Looking forward to seeing you thrive!

All the Best for a Prosperous Year,

Baylan

Help for Businesses in a Slow Economy

The national economy is trying to get up off the ground. What are you doing for your business to get out of the doldrums?

Wise, time-tested businesspeople say this is the time to increase your marketing efforts. It keeps you in the game.

Did you know that:

1. The last five recessions point to one inescapable fact: Those companies that continue to market will be more profitable and dominant in their categories in the next 12 to 18 months.

2. A McGraw Hill research study of recessionary marketing, which examined 600 companies over 5 years, revealed those that maintained or increased their advertising during a recession posted an average sales growth of 256%.

3. In the last recession, only 25% of companies increased their marketing. As a result, their average market share growth outpaced other businesses by 2.5 times.

I will spend time looking at all the aspects of marketing. Stay tuned.
